Thermal sprayed coatings for protection against cavitation erosion
2018
In order to protect the hydraulic components from cavitation erosion phenomena, the parts are often coated by thermal spraying. Buck YSZ shows an excellent performance against cavitation erosion. However, the cavitation erosion resistance of YSZ coatings have vaguely been studied. Therefore, in this study, YSZ were manufactured with different thermal spraying processes and post-treated by laser remelting, then they were subjected to cavitation tests according to ASTM G32.The YSZ coating was first manufactured by atmospheric plasma spraying (APS). Various sizes of YSZ powder and different preheating temperatures of the substrate were studied to observe their effect on the cavitation behavior…
Dissimilar joining of copper to stainless steel and TA6V to stainless steel by high power beams : understanding and modeling of physicochemical pheno…
2010
The present study is dedicated to the comprehension of the mechanism of materials mixing during dissimilar welding by high power beam sources. We have been interested in joining of two couples of metallic materials which present different metallurgical problems: •copper- stainless steel (miscibility gap, important difference in physical properties);•TA6V- stainless steel (oxidation on air, formation of intermetallic phases which made the joint brittle). For the first couple of materials, continuous laser Nd:YAG welding and electron beam welding have been applied. The experimental study of morphology evolution, composition, microstructure and mechanical properties has allowed establishing the…
Modelling of laser beam texturing process: experimental and numerical approaches
2007
The aim of this work is to reache a better control of the laser beam surface texturing process on three materials: 304L, TA6V and AA6056 alloys. For this purpose, two complementary methods, experimental and numerical modelling, have been used. As a result of the experimental design approach, it was observed that the laser surface texturing process of 304L and TA6V alloys is strongly influenced by the pulse energy and frequency. In order to obtain a surface roughness Sa < 5 µm for the highest possible productivity it is necessary to work with an energy of 5 mJ and a frequency ranging between 10 and 12 kHz. Unfortunately, for aluminium alloy AA6056, it is necessary to make a choice between ha…
Optimisation d’un capteur solaire double passe à air et estimation des échanges de chaleur paroi-fluide.
2018
In this work, we present a study of the performance of a double pass flat solar collector for the production of hot air to supply and improve drying techniques. The cases of an absorber with and without fins are analyzed.Theoretical models for the double pass solar collector with and without fins have been established and solved numerically using codes developed in Fortran to obtain a global approach. Comsol Multi-physics code is used for a more local study. An experimental device has been designed to validate the results obtained numerically. One of the particularities of the solar collector developed in the laboratory is its insulation system. For this, a local bio-sourced material compos…
